Petition Text Dear Senator, One reason we needed the Credit CARD Act is that current bank regulators have encouraged credit card company tricks designed to trap consumers with unfair fees and high-cost debt. We can’t rely on the bank regulators, who were part of the problem, to protect consumers. We need to enact a strong, independent Consumer Financial Protection Agency (CFPA) to enforce the Credit CARD Act and other consumer laws. We have an FDA to prevent dangerous meat and prescription drugs from harming consumers, and we need a strong, independent CFPA to prevent dangerous credit cards and predatory mortgages from harming us, too.
